  • Biogeochemistry in the Southern Ocean, iron fertilization of the ocean

  • The main purpose of the CYBER database, which supports projects selected by the Committee LEFE-CYBER, is to collect, store and disseminate data and scientific information (metadata).

  • The Niskin or go-flo bottles collect water samples at pressures, temperatures and salinity which will be characterized using the CTD coupled to them. Numerous analyses are performed on the basis of these water samples: chemical (Nutrients, O2, etc.), biological (virus, bacteria, Chlorophyll A, etc.).

  • The SISMER (Scientific Information Systems of the Sea) is the Ifremer service in charge of the management of many marine databases or information systems which Ifremer is in charge of implementing.

  • GO-SHIP, the Global Ocean Ship-Based Hydrographic Investigations Program, is conducting repeat hydrography with high accuracy high precision reference measurements of a variety of EOVs through the whole water column. A selection of continent-to-continent full depth sections are repeated at roughly decadal intervals. The data archive for CTD data and bottle data is currently at CCHDO, although the CTD data from European cruises are available at Seadatanet as well.

  • CYBER is a part of the national program LEFE (Les Enveloppes Fluides et l'Environnement). The LEFE CYBER DATABASE is a support activity to projects labelled by the LEFE-CYBER program -To collect the data -To archive the data -To make data and metadata available to the scientific community and to other databases

  • The PROSOPE (PROductivity of Oceanic PElagic Systems) cruise took place from the 4th of September (Agadir, Morocco) to the 4th of October (Toulon, France) 1999 aboard the RV Thalassa. There were four main scientific objectives: - To carry out classical process studies, typical of JGOFS. - To focus on small scale biogeochemical processes, in particular at a daily scale. - To study the influence of nitrogen, phosphorus and iron on oceanic fertility. - To conduct a calibration/validation operation for the SeaWIFS color sensor.
